3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession

The mention of History, Culture and Heritage contributes to the initial training of the Teacher in Primary Education. With this mention it is intended to prepare education professionals to fully develop the cultural and humanistic vision that a teacher in Primary Education should have, by promoting historical knowledge and respect for cultural differences while contributing to expand their critical vision, artistic taste as well as knowledge of the community's cultural identity.

The course Ethics and Civic Values that is included in this mention, is scheduled for the 4th Year of the Degree. The contents have been prepared keeping in mind the current Decree establishing and ordering the curriculum of Primary Education in the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha. Among the General Objectives of this Decree is that Primary Education will contribute to developing knowledge and appreciation of the values and norms of coexistence, learning to act in accordance with them to prepare for the active exercise of citizenship and respect for human rights. The proper framework is, therefore, that of pluralism that must characterize a democratic society.

Evaluation criteria for the final exam:
  • Continuous assessment:
Continuous evaluation consists of active participation in class (20%), as well as the work done -text comments, reviews, etc.- (30%). The remaining grade will be obtained with a final written test on the contents of the course -(50%), or with three oral presentations on the main contents of the subject (10% and 40%).

The evaluation test carried out by the student in which the conduct of a fraudulent practice has been verified will carry with it the suspense, with a final grade of zero (0) in the corresponding call for the subject. Likewise, the detection by the professor that a work, essay or similar test has not been prepared by the student will mean a numerical grade of zero (0) both in the tests and in the subject in which it was detected, regardless of the rest of the grades that the student would have obtained.
See article 8 of the UCLM Student Assessment Regulation -2022/4952-
  • Non-continuous evaluation:
The criteria for the evaluation of students who cannot attend class regularly eliminates the assessment of the participation with the use of the class, as well as the oral presentation of topics. In the non-continuous evaluation, the final test on the content taught in the subject (50%) will be valued, as well as the delivery on the same day of the examination of the work prepared (text comments, reviews, etc., available at the virtual classroom) (50%)

Likewise, the detection by the professor that a work, essay or similar test has not been prepared by the student will mean a numerical grade of zero (0) both in the tests and in the subject in which it was detected, regardless of the rest of the grades that the student would have obtained.
