2. Pre-Requisites

Although no official prerequisites are established, basic reading and intonation skills are recommended, as well as a positive attitude towards musical and artistic creation

3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession

The subject "Musical Languages" (6 credits) is one of the elective courses that make up the Music Specialization (30 credits). Together with the rest of the elective courses in this module, it aims to develop in students the necessary competencies for the planning and teaching of music education in different cycles of Primary Education.

For the exercise of the profession of Primary Education Teacher, the LOMLOE establishes that the teaching of Music must be imparted by teachers with the corresponding specialization or qualification. In response to this demand, the Music Education Specialization aims to provide training in this subject that will allow future teachers to develop the necessary competencies for their teaching role as music specialists.

The Music Education Specialization is presented as an option for the Primary Education degree. It is considered essential that both future male and female teachers of this stage understand the processes of music production and learning from the personal, social, and cultural contexts in which children are immersed.
