2. Pre-Requisites
Not established. It is recommended to have passed the corresponding subjets in origin related to Constitutional Law, Public International Law and Administrative Law. Knowledge of basic concepts of this matters is presupposed
3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession
European Union Law constitutes an autonomous legal order that is inserted in the legal systems of the Member States. For this reason, the applicable legal order in EU Member States includes a significant volume of European Union regulations that are applied directly in in accordance with rules very similar to those that determine the effectiveness and conditions of application of strictly internal regulations. To this is added that another very important volume of them, despite not being directly applicable, oblige the national authorities to adapt its internal law to their content. As a result, the content of a very important part of the applicable law in EU Member States is determined, directly or indirectly, by the law of the European Union.
Although with an unequal impact, it can be said that no sector or branch of the Law applicable in the Member States, from Administrative Law to Civil Law, through Labor Law, Commercial Law, Financial Law and even the Criminal, escapes the uniforming, harmonizing or conditioning impact of European Union Law. Or, putting it in other terms, few sectors of our social life are not affected by decisions taken by the institutions and bodies of the European Union.
The knowledge of the general aspects related to the structure of the European Union, its institutions and its norms and mechanisms of application, is therefore essential not only for the applicants of a legal system of which the Law of the European Union is part, but also for those who need to know the functioning of the political and administrative structures that decide and manage public affairs that affect the lives of citizens.
"European Union Law", in this way, is a subject that aims to know the essential foundations of the functioning of the European Union, both from the institutional perspective and from the perspective of its legal system. Knowledge of this subject allows the acquisition of competencies, abilities and skills essential for any legal operator. In short, it is a key subject for any graduate in Law.

8. Evaluation criteria and Grading System

Students who do not attend class or who adopt a merely passive attitude in it, must take a practical exam consisting of the answer to four questions related to a factual case. |

According to art. 4 of the UCLM Student Evaluation Regulations, it must be provided to students who cannot regularly attend face-to-face training activities the passing of the subject, having the right (art. 12.2) to be globally graded, in 2 annual calls per subject , an ordinary and an extraordinary one (evaluating 100% of the competences).
Evaluation criteria for the final exam:

Continuous assessment:Oral or written test, at the student's choice. The oral exam will consist of four development questions related to the subject matter, from which the student will choose three of them. The written exam will consist, for students who have successfully passed the assessment of class participation, a multiple choice exam. However, they will be able to raise the mark achieved by taking the practical test. For the rest of the students, the written exam will include, in addition to the multiple choice test, a development test consisting on the answer to four questions related to a practical case or a text comment.

Non-continuous evaluation:For students who cannot regularly attend on site training activities and / or do not participate satisfactorily in practical training activities, the written exam will include, in addition to the multiple choice test, a development test consisting of the answer to four questions related to a practical case or a text comment
Specifications for the resit/retake exam:
Oral or written test, at the student's choice. The oral exam will consist of four development questions related to the subject matter, from which the student will choose three.
