2. Pre-Requisites
It is essential to have passed the subject English Language and language teaching I to be qualified in English Language and language teaching I, although students can enroll in both subjects in the same course. The functional contents, the lexicon, the grammar and the pronunciation correspond to a B1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ¿¿(MECRL). In any case, they will be stated at the beginning of the course by the teacher. Likewise, the contents to be dealt with within the English methodology section will be specified by the teacher at the beginning of the academic year.
3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession
Learning the English language is essential for the training of future teachers, given the importance of this subject in Early Childhood Education. The teaching of this subject delves into the four skills, both oral (listening and speaking) and written (reading and writing), presenting them within a communicative framework in order to achieve solid competence. Structural and vocabulary knowledge is also reinforced. In addition, basic aspects of the methodology of language teaching and didactic applications aimed at the current school context, the curriculum of foreign languages ¿¿in Infants and their application in the classroom are worked on. The subject is part of the module "English language learning" (1.2.2.2) in the Early Childhood Education Degree.

5. Objectives or Learning Outcomes

Description
Know how to programme units of work that are appropriate for the levels of foreign language, bearing in mind the procedures of the classroom.
Be able to understand the principal ideas of an oral speech in standard language that deals with everyday topics relative to work, school, free time, etc.
Be able to write simple, cohesive texts about various everyday topics within one¿s field of interests.
Be able to form a simple oral description of a variety of topics of one¿s interest.
Know how to orally communicate and interact with a certain level of confidence, participate without prior preparation in conversations which address everyday topics, express personal opinions, and exchange information about habitual topics of personal interest, or which are pertinent to daily life.
Know how to read factual texts on topics related to one¿s speciality with a satisfactory level of comprehension.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS, REMARKS

The functional contents, the lexicon, the grammar and the pronunciation correspond to a level of B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. In any case, at the beginning of the course the teacher will specify the methods and / or materials or textbooks to be used.

According to art. 4 of the UCLM Student Evaluation Regulations, it must be provided to students who cannot regularly attend face-to-face training activities the passing of the subject, having the right (art. 12.2) to be globally graded, in 2 annual calls per subject , an ordinary and an extraordinary one (evaluating 100% of the competences).

Evaluation criteria for the final exam:
  • Continuous assessment:
    Progress tests:
    Various assessable activities will be carried out throughout the course. The grades obtained from these activities will represent 35% of the student's grade as long as they improve their overall final grade.
    Final test:
    The final test will consist of the following parts:
    I. Written test (40%): it will include reading comprehension, writing, use of English (grammar and vocabulary) and listening comprehension (in which a dictation may be performed);
    II. Oral test (40%): composed of speaking production and speaking interaction;
    III. Didactics of the English language (20%): it will consist of various questions about the didactic content taught during the course.
    IV. Students must demonstrate some knowledge in didactics that will be evaluated, (1) either through continuous evaluation through didactic exploitation activities within the classroom throughout the course, or (2) either through a section within the final written test.
    V. With regard to the oral test, the students who attend class will have the possibility of being evaluated continuously in the classroom. In the case of not passing the continuous evaluations, they must take the oral part in the corresponding call for the final test.
    VI. To pass the course, students must pass all parts or at least obtain a 4 out of 10 to make an average between the parts, as long as the final grade obtained after taking the average is equal to or above 5.
    VII. To do the final oral exam, students must obtain at least a grade of 4 in the final written exam.
    VIII. If the student fails the written test, the final grade will be the one obtained in this test. If the student passes the written test but fails the oral one, the final grade will be 4 by default.
    IX. No marks will be saved beyond the ordinary and extraordinary calls of the current year.
    X. In case of plagiarism, students will fail the subject (article 9 of the REE).
    Where appropriate, any necessary modification or adaptation in the teaching guides as a consequence of any change in the teaching or evaluation model derived from the evolution of the pandemic will be documented through an addendum.
  • Non-continuous evaluation:
    The final test will consist of the following parts:
