2. Pre-Requisites

It is essential to have passed Foreign Language and its Didactics II: English.

3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession

The society of the 21st century demands an education that guarantees the competent handling of at least one foreign language. Two significant measures in this regard are the
inclusion in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education of the teaching of another foreign language and linguistic programs, within the framework of educational policies
European Unions, which have been steadily supporting multilingualism.
The degree in Primary Education has to respond to these needs, which have also become evident in the job market in recent years. The mention in foreign language addresses the training of Primary Education teachers in two directions: linguistics, with the acquisition and consolidation of linguistic skills at the B2 high intermediate independent user level, and deepening in the phonetic and grammatical fields; and methodological, through a professionalizing review of the latest trends in language teaching-learning at this educational stage.
Communicative Skills in the English Language reinforces the five communicative skills: listening comprehension, speaking, oral interaction, written comprehension and written expression.
The UCLM officially recognizes the B2 level for students who take this mention.
