Course competences
Code Description

Course learning outcomes
Description
To understand the value of fundamental rights as a limit to security policies.
To understand the organisation of the private security sector including the main participants.
To understand the different fields of action within local and regional police forces.
To understand the fundamental rights and civil liberties.
To know the political structure of the state.
To know the history of the police in Spain and to understand the current police organisation and identify different police models.
To know the administrative organisation.
To know the administrative procedures that have an impact on Criminology.

  • Unit 1: Public security, citizen security and public order. Basic concepts of security and constitutional framework.
  • Unit 2: Characteristics and delimitation of the public security system.
  • Unit 3: The structures in charge of security: The State Security Forces and Bodies.
  • Unit 4: International police cooperation: Europol and Interpol.
  • Unit 5: Public security activity: legal nature, principles, intervention techniques and powers of police action.
  • Unit 6: The sanctioning activity of the Administration in matters of citizen security.
  • Unit 7: Private security.

According to art. 4 of the UCLM Student Evaluation Regulations, it must be provided to students who cannot regularly attend face-to-face training activities the passing of the subject, having the right (art. 12.2) to be globally graded, in 2 annual calls per subject , an ordinary and an extraordinary one (evaluating 100% of the competences).

Evaluation criteria for the final exam:
  • Continuous assessment:
    Pass the practical activities carried out in class and the final test on the contents of the program.
    The mastery of the subject by the student, expository clarity and writing will be valued.
  • Non-continuous evaluation:
    In the case of non-continuous evaluation, the practical (40%) and the final test (60%) will be held on the day of the exam.

Specifications for the resit/retake exam:
Test on the total of the matter of theoretical and practical nature (100%). The note of the practices will not be saved for this extraordinary call. Therefore, to pass the subject it will be necessary to obtain at least at 5 in the exam.
Specifications for the second resit / retake exam:
None different compared to the ordinary.
