To be able to critically assess arguments based on scientific criteria in the forensic criminological field. | |
To know the institutional and legal reality in which these programmes and practices are developed. | |
To identify the role of the criminologist in each of the institutions of formal control and to differentiate them from those of other professionals. | |
To identify the different alternative criminal conflict resolution programmes and their peculiarities according to the phase of the procedure in which they are developed. | |
To know about the functioning of prisons and prison life, about the possibilities of reintegration of offenders once they enter prison and about the effects of imprisonment on inmates. | |
To know the model of justice proposed by LO 5/2000, which regulates the criminal responsibility of minors, the principles that inspire it, the specialities of the process that are foreseen and the characteristics of the responses that are foreseen to punish young offenders. | |
To know what the police do, who is or are in charge of promoting their action in each case and how this institution is organised for greater preventative and repressive efficiency. | |
To know how criminal courts operate, how effective they are in preventing crime and how criminal law is applied in practice. | |
To know the history of juvenile justice and the different models of justice that have been adopted, in order to critically analyse the response to be provided to young people who commit offences. | |
