2. Pre-Requisites
It is necessary for the student to have a minimum of previous knowledge in accessing the Moodle virtual platform, as well as in the use of databases, essentially of jurisprudence, as well as legal content search engines.

 

3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession
This subject is part of the subject "Social control" which aims to provide students with an exhaustive knowledge of the criminal justice system and the functioning of the different institutions of social control, an area in which they will very possibly develop their professional performance. In this subject, the objective is for students to know the different models of social control, as well as the functions and how they carry out their work, both the police, especially those belonging to the State, and the courts, the role of the criminologist in these institutions will also be identified

Course learning outcomes
Description
To identify the role of the criminologist in each of the institutions of formal control and to differentiate them from those of other professionals.
To identify the different alternative criminal conflict resolution programmes and their peculiarities according to the phase of the procedure in which they are developed.
To be able to critically assess arguments based on scientific criteria in the forensic criminological field.
To know the institutional and legal reality in which these programmes and practices are developed.
To know what the police do, who is or are in charge of promoting their action in each case and how this institution is organised for greater preventative and repressive efficiency.
To know how criminal courts operate, how effective they are in preventing crime and how criminal law is applied in practice.

Class Attendance (theory) [ON-SITE] Lectures 2.68 67 Y N La asignatura comienza con una clase magistral donde se hará una introducción teórica sobre el contenido de la asignatura y se explicarán los objetivos de la misma y el modo de evaluación.
Class Attendance (practical) [ON-SITE] Combination of methods 1.88 47 Y N The concepts acquired in the theoretical classes will be analyzed as well as the analysis of the methods of each one of the institutions of social control, without forgetting the jurisprudence and other complementary materials on them, as a basis for the critical reflection that the student must carry out. The practices will consist of the resolution of practical cases and comments and analysis of text or news related to social control and social control institutions. It can also be compared to the visit to the Courts to check the functioning of the Courts of Justice.
Individual tutoring sessions [ON-SITE] Guided or supervised work 0.08 2 Y N Las tutorías serán presenciales, si bien, podrán proporcionarse, si así se considera necesario, de manera virtual a través de las herramientas de comunicación que prevé Moodle y si el alumno lo desea puede ser mediante videollamada a través del programa Microsoft Teams. Durante la tutoría la profesora atenderá, facilitará y orientará al estudiante en su proceso formativo.
Writing of reports or projects [OFF-SITE] Combination of methods 1.2 30 Y N La profesora proporcionará una lista con líneas de investigación consolidadas en el ámbito de estudio de las instituciones de control social formal. Los estudiantes, por grupos o de forma individual, según se considere, elegirán una de ellas y tendrán que desarrollar una revisión de la misma (indicando los objetivos que han perseguido los estudios localizados, las metodologías empleadas y los resultados y conclusiones alcanzados), examinando la bibliografía científica actual.
Progress test [ON-SITE] Assessment tests 0.08 2 Y N Resolución de casos y cuestionarios para comprender y valorar la adquisición de conocimientos en cada una de las etapas y temas en que se divide la asignatura. La suma pondera de la teoría y la práctica deberá alcanzar la puntuación de 5 sobre 10. Supondrá el 30% de la nota final
Final test [ON-SITE] Assessment tests 0.08 2 Y N Los alumnos deben realizar una examen final que debe ser superado para aprobar la asignatura, constituyendo el 60% de la nota en caso de evaluación continua y el 100% en la no continua. Además, se deben realizar las tareas formativas previstas para ser desarrolladas en el aula. La suma ponderada en el examen final entre la teoría y la práctica deberá alcanzar la puntuación de 5 sobre 10.

According to art. 4 of the UCLM Student Evaluation Regulations, it must be provided to students who cannot regularly attend face-to-face training activities the passing of the subject, having the right (art. 12.2) to be globally graded, in 2 annual calls per subject , an ordinary and an extraordinary one (evaluating 100% of the competences).

Evaluation criteria for the final exam:
  • Continuous assessment:
    Students must take a final exam, composed of a practical part (case or comment to be resolved) and theory that must be passed to pass the subject, with an average of 4 out of 10. In addition, the training tasks planned to be developed must be carried out in the classroom. The weighted sum of the final exam and the practical tasks must reach a score of 5 out of 10.
  • Non-continuous evaluation:
    In the case of non-continuous evaluation, the resolution of the practical part (40%) and the final test (60%) will be held on the day of the exam.
