2. Pre-Requisites

It is compulsory to have obtained favourable results (5 or above) in the following subjects:

English Language and its teaching I and II (lengua extranjera y su didáctia I y II: inglés).

It is recommended to have obtained favourable results in the subject: communicative skills from the 3rd academic year of the degree (destrezas comunicativas).

3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession

The European Higher Education Area requires graduates to master a second European language, preferably English. This subject belonging to the

The English Mention in Primary Education Teaching meets this requirement providing fundamental training for teachers considering the current scenario of Primary Education and its great commitment to training in foreign languages and multilingualism-based approaches.

This subject provides students with the opportunity to learn the practical and theoretical contents and skills necessary to be able to teach English in a primary school classroom, dealing with contents to do with: plurilinguism, multiculturality, European dimension, cooperative work, attention to diversity, the use of ICTs and most importantly to reflect on their practice.

Thus, the competences acquired in this degree, which are common to all of the Faculties of the UCLM, are structured around two main pillars: linguistic and didactic skills.

As far as the linguistic knowledge is concerned, this subject, as do all the others in this degree in this 4th academic year, focuses on making sure that students acquire a B2 level of English according to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages.

The materials to be used in throughout the academic year will be provided to the students and will be uploaded in the Virtual Campus.
