3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession

The subject provides a synthetic and contextualized knowledge of Medieval History of Spain, between the fifth and the fifteenth centuries. It will be focused on the main characteristics that defined the politics, society, economy and culture of Spain. Two basic purposes are sought: firstly, more specific, to ensure that students understand some of the historical foundations of our present world; secondly, more general, to help that these students get a solid general and multidisciplinary training in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Course learning outcomes
Description
Acquire the ability to interpret and comment on sources of diverse nature and historical texts.
Assimilate the meaning of the key concepts for the understanding of the History of Spain.
Know the bases of the different periods of the History of Spain and its diachronic correlation.
Manage correctly those key concepts to reach a good learning of the subject.
Identification of the different historic heritage sites and categories, especially archaeological heritage site.
Comprehend and acquire the capacity to explain the origin and evolution of the different periods of the History of Spain.
Familiarization with the schools and historiographical debates to know the diversity of approaches that exist.

According to art. 4 of the UCLM Student Evaluation Regulations, it must be provided to students who cannot regularly attend face-to-face training activities the passing of the subject, having the right (art. 12.2) to be globally graded, in 2 annual calls per subject , an ordinary and an extraordinary one (evaluating 100% of the competences).

Evaluation criteria for the final exam:
  • Continuous assessment:
    They will be detailed at the beginning of the academic year. How to change from continuous to non-continuous evaluation: any student may change from one system to the other if he/she has not fulfilled up to a 50% of the continuous evaluation tasks during the academic period. If a student has already fulfilled the 50% of the evaluable tasks, or if the lesson period has already finished, he/she will not be allowed to change the evaluation system.
  • Non-continuous evaluation:
    They will be detailed at the beginning of the academic year. How to change from continuous to non-continuous evaluation: any student may change from one system to the other if he/she has not fulfilled up to a 50% of the continuous evaluation tasks during the academic period. If a student has already fulfilled the 50% of the evaluable tasks, or if the lesson period has already finished, he/she will not be allowed to change the evaluation system.
