Not established. However, it is recommended to have studied the subjects of International Law, European Union Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Financial and Tax Law and, above all, Administrative Law.
Environmental law is one of the most typical and characteristic area of Law in our time. The reason is that the principles and legal norms usually reflect faithfully the challenges and problems of the society of each epoch, and betwen the problems and challenges of our days is - without a doubt - the environmental degradation. In other words: in our days, the community has the need (almost "planetary") to build an environmental law whose first and principal objective can not be other than to get a high level of defense (and even restoration) of the environmental balance to, this way, guarantee the integrity of the natural systems and, at the end, the life (and quality of life) of the human species. So, we are facing a Law that establishes the legal rules "of the game" that make possible an adequate and sustainable environment, for the present and for the future generation.
To all the above, we can add the horizontal nature or character of this Law. This means tha the enviromental Law has a heavy relationship with other legal system or Law (ex., international public law, European Union law, constitutional law, administrative law, and even criminal law, the law civil and financial and tax law). In addition, we have to take into account that, just now, in our days - and predictably in the future - this Law constitutes a professional "employment niche", to work in the public sector (ex., Public Administration) and the private sector (law firms, consultancies companies, etc.), because there are few lawyers specialized in this discipline.
In others words, and to taking into account the above considerations, it is quite justified that environmental law is offered and included as an optional subject of the degree in Law (and in the corresponding itinerary). Or, to say it better: students who study the Degree in Law can know and identify the different legal instruments of intervention - fundamentally public - in the environmental sector, and even analyze European and Spanish community legislation and jurisprudence on The matter.
