2. Pre-Requisites

It is recommended that the student has passed the subject "International Economics". It is also recommended the domain of National Accounts concepts, Maths and Statistics. Finally, it will be very usefull to handle the basic computing programs for calculating and drowing graphs (e.g. Excell).

3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession

The goal of this subject is to give the student the basic knowledges to understand the framework in which the economic activity is developed in Spain.

The subject complements and develops in an applied way the previous knowledges acquired in other subjects such as Macroeconomics and Microeconomics, Economic History and Statistics. It is intended that the student knows the real economic framework in which his future professional activity will be carried out.

Any student who intends to develop his/her professional activity as economist in business or institutional areas should know the strengths and weakness of the Spanish productive structure, the structural changes happened in the last decades and their causes, the productive input markets and some institutional and regulatory aspects. In a context of increasing integration of Spain into the EU and growing internationalization of the country, an economist hardly will be able to design appropriate strategies or making correct decisions without knowing the structural and competitive Spanish differences and specificities with respect to countries belonging to its economic environment.
