3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession

In a world as globalized as the current one, knowledge of the international environment has become a requirement for those who operate in the economic reality. In this sense, this subject tries to offer an overview of the features, problems and trends of the International Economics. This seeks to understand how the world economy works in a context of continuous change, while addressing the analysis of the current problems faced by international economic policy in its quest to improve the living standards of the population.

The study of the international economic environment that carries out this subject takes as a basis the economic models that are addressed in the subjects of "Introduction to Economics" and "Intermediate Macroeconomics", trying to interpret the economic facts in light of said theoretical models and the evolutionary dynamic provided by the subject "Business History". Likewise, the study of international economic reality, while requiring the use of data processing techniques, is based on the contents of the subject "Business Statistics".

This subject constitutes a frame of reference to face the study of the subject of "Spanish Economics", which the study plan places in the following course. It would be difficult to understand the economic problems of a country, the current trends in the markets or the framework in which its international relations develop without having a good knowledge of the constraints it imposes and the opportunities offered by the world economy.

Finally, it constitutes a starting point for the study of the processes of economic integration and concretely of the one carried out by the European countries, which is treated in a much broader and more detailed way in the optional subject of "Economics of European Union".

E07 Understand the economic environment as a result and application of theoretical or formal representations on how the economy works. To do so, it will be necessary to be able to understand and use common handbooks, as well as articles and, in general, leading edge bibliography in the core subjects of the curriculum.

Description
Search for information in order to analyze it, interpret is meaning, synthesize it and communicate it to others.
Know the analytical models and techniques of the economic and legal environment currently faced by enterprises, with special attention given to the search for opportunities and the anticipation of potential changes.
Know the main theories and approaches of economic analysis to be able to explain the behavior of economic agents at the micro and macroeconomic levels, as well as the imperfections that may arise in different sectors as a consequence of the economic process.

According to art. 6 of the UCLM Student Evaluation Regulations, it must be provided to students who cannot regularly attend face-to-face training activities the passing of the subject, having the right (art. 13.2) to be globally graded, in 2 annual calls per subject , an ordinary and an extraordinary one (evaluating 100% of the competences).

Evaluation criteria for the final exam:
  • Continuous assessment:
    The final test will consist of two parts, a partial exam that will take place in the exam period of the ordinary call of the first semester (contents will be released when the student get a 4 over 10, or more, in said test) and a second test in the ordinary call of the second semester. The grade obtained in the assessable activities other than the final test will be added to the grade of the final test when a minimum grade of 4 out of 10 is obtained in the final test. Those students who, even having carried out assessable activities, wish to be evaluated with the non-continuous evaluation criteria, they must communicate it to the teacher before the end of the class period.
  • Non-continuous evaluation:
    The evaluation will be carried out with a final test that will include the specific tests that are considered necessary to evaluate all the competences.

Specifications for the resit/retake exam:
In the extraordinary call, knowledge will be recovered through the final test. Regarding the training activities carried out within the continuous assessment, the recovery of the skills associated with the training tests will be carried out through specific tests that can be included in the final test, being essential to notify the teacher before starting of the established period of examinations of the extraordinary call.
Specifications for the second resit / retake exam:
The evaluation will be carried out on a single written test, requiring a minimum score of 5 out of 10 to pass the course.
