2. Pre-Requisites

To have passed ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND ITS TEACHING I and ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND ITS TEACHING II, subjects of the first and second year respectively of the Degree in Early Childhood Education, which means that the minimum starting level in the subject at the beginning of the course is B1+.

This prerequisite is established in order to ensure that the student can follow and participate in classes and seminars, build their learning and acquire the skills of this subject, as well as to ensure the degree of communicative competence necessary for the future specialist teacher in English.

3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession

The need to have the communicative competence required as future teachers of the English language in Primary  Education classrooms, as well as the growing possibility of participating as teachers in the so-called Bilingual Sections, requires providing our students with a linguistic competence of at least B2 level, where the mastery of the oral language -and, therefore, of pronunciation- is an essential requirement. As teachers specializing in English, they automatically become the reference model to be imitated by the students of this stage, which requires a theoretical and practical knowledge of the functioning of the phonological system of the English language, with the possible variations that may occur depending on the phonetic context, register and accent, in addition to the phonetic-phonological system of the Spanish language in order to prevent and prevent the pronunciation of the English language.
Spanish language in order to prevent and correct frequent errors produced by the interference of the L1. Likewise, it is essential to acquire the necessary didactic instruments and resources to facilitate the recognition and acquisition of English sounds by children and the initiation of reading and writing in English in the Primary Education classrooms.
