2. Pre-Requisites

Students must have passed Foreign Language and its Didactics I and II

3. Justification in the curriculum, relation to other subjects and to the profession
The society of the 21st century demands an education that guarantees competence in at least one foreign language. Two significant measures in this regard are the inclusion of a foreign language in the second cycle of Early Childhood Education, and the inception of bilingual programmes within the framework of European educational policies, which have been steadily supporting multilingualism. The Degree in Early Childhood Education has to respond to these needs, which are also a requirement for getting a better employment. The mention in foreign language addresses the training of Early Childhood Education teachers in two directions: linguistics, with the acquisition and consolidation of linguistic skills at the B2 level, and deepening in the phonetic and grammatical fields; and methodological, through a professionalizing review of the latest trends in language teaching-learning at this educational stage. ELT Methodology for Early Childhood Education is linked to Practicum I and aims to initiate the future teacher in teaching English at this stage within the current educational context, marked by the demands of multilingualism, multiculturalism, European dimension, cooperative work, attention to diversity and the use of new technologies. The UCLM officially recognizes the B2 level for students who take this mention.
