It is recommended that students start at least from an A2 level, since at the end of the 2nd year subject they will have to demonstrate a B1 level in all communicative skills.
The European Higher Education Area requires graduates to master a second European language, preferably English. The Degree in Primary Education Teaching meets this requirement in the subjects Foreign Language and its didactics I and II. This training is fundamental for teachers considering the current scenario of Primary Education and its great commitment to training in foreign languages and multilingualism-based approaches.

The functional contents, lexicon, grammar and pronunciation correspond to a B1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference.
The subject is divided into two distinct parts:
1. English language practice
2. English language teaching (didactics). As established in the Curriculum, students must pass the 'English Language and English Language Teaching I' course or the 'French Language and French Language Teaching I' course.
